1.3 An Overview of Insider Computer Fraud
1.3.1 Insider Defined
Based on my definition, an insider is anyone who has the same or similar access rights into a network, system, or application. Therefore, a trusted insider can be a current or former employee, a contractor, consultant, service provider, software vendor, and so on. This more general definition will require organizations to expand their risk assessment and threat analysis to include all parties under this definition.
